      Xbox Live

I finally got Xbox Live! It'll probably only be for the summer since my university only allows students to have one thing on the network. I'm going to ask and see if it's possible to buy another spot because I have two ports in my room and would love to have Live all year-round. I'm addicted!!

If you have Halo 3 or a handful of other games, hit me up!

      Yay Iowa!

I know that most of you have never even heard of the state I live in, but that's okay because you'll be hearing of it pretty damn soon.

Today marks a historic event in Iowa's history - our Supreme Court unanimously ruled in favor of same-sex marriages! We're the third state in the union to do so, and the first in the Midwest!

The Supreme Court said that Iowa lawmakers have "excluded a historically disfavored class of persons from a supremely important civil institution without a constitutionally sufficient justification." And that to issue any other decision, the justices said, "would be an abdication of our constitutional duty."

I am so proud of my lil Iowa.

      That's it.

      Scary Games

So, lately my friends and I have been on a horror kick. We watched all the Saws again (mainly so that we would know what the fuck will be going on in Saw V) and then a bunch of other 'scary' movies. I brought up the fact that there are a lot of scary video games out there too.

Last year, I played through Haunting Ground with two of my friends watching me and taking turns (until shit hit the fan, then they would hurl the controller in my direction and panic until I'd taken care of the problem.) This year, I wanted to do the same type of thing. So today, I bought Doom 3 for the Xbox and F.E.A.R. for the 360. I also bought Mass Effect for the 360, but that's only because I've given up on the epic computer idea at the moment. I've played quite a bit of Mass Effect on my brother's computer already, but I'm excited to play it fully now. I had planned on buying Dead Space, but I decided that three games for the price of one was a better idea - especially since I got two scary games instead of just one.

Anyway, tonight I put in Doom 3 and three of my friends watched me play. Two of them tried to play, but they can't walk and look around at the same time - which makes aiming and killing anything incredibly difficult. After a couple hours of scary demon-alien shit, I switched over to F.E.A.R. This game was a lot scarier, if only because it feels creepier. Things are more realistic (not a space station on Mars) and there are ghosts instead of zombies, aliens and Satanic shit.

I haven't beat Fable 2 yet, but I don't have much time to play and I don't want to race through it just to beat it. I really like to take my time with RPGs, especially with ones like Fable 2, where I can spend my money in interesting, profitable ways. Not to mention the fact that it never gets old to run through the countryside with my dog racing right beside me. It's just so cute! Hopefully, I can convince my friends to play with/watch me go through Doom 3 and F.E.A.R. so that it can be as fun of an experience as Haunting Ground was last year.

Also, I am really pumped for Saw V! I don't get to see it until next weekend though, because I'm waiting for a friend from home to come up and go with me and my friends up here for Halloween. Normally, I don't like horror movies, but the Saw titles don't bother me and, for some reason, I love scary video games.

      That's it.

      LOTR

I don't know too many ways to spend a day better than watching all three LOTR movies consecutively with your friends. It's just an awesome time. I've done it twice now - the first time with my brother and now again today with some of my friends.

Next marathon: Star Wars! Of course, first I have to buy them all...

      That's it.

      Milestones and Video Games

I finally got mine! Having been on this site for 3 years, one would think that I would've done more, though. Oops.

I just recently bought a few very cheap games (we're talking $3.99 here, guys) and they're all actually pretty great. I've never played a Ratchet and Clank game before, but I've heard how good they are. So I bought Rachet and Clank: Going Commando and, so far, it's pretty freakin' fun. I also bought Gran Turisomo 3: A Spec (PS2) on a whim since my only other racing games are Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit on the PC and Need For Speed: Most Wanted on the 360. It's pretty fun so far too, but not as open-ended as Most Wanted.

The other games I bought I've already owned before LEGO: Star Wars. My old Xbox ruined the CD, but I found it. I almost bought the older trilogy version too, but I decided to beat this one again first. And I also bought Kessen II. I'm pretty sure that my brother still has this one, but I never got around to actually beating it myself so I figured I'd play it again too. These older titles should keep me occupied until Fable 2 comes out...in 13 days!

      That's it.

      Meh.

You might notice that I have deleted all of my images. This is because I'm simply not very active on this site anymore and don't like clicking through to see new comments that I don't usually respond to anyway.

I'm not leaving the site for good, or anything, but don't expect me to be around much. Feel free to leave comments/messages if you want, just be prepared for the fact that it might take me a long time to get back to you. As for my Watch List, forget about it.

      RIP

I just found out that Heath Ledger died.

I can't believe it. Dark Knight would have done amazing things for his career, and he brought so much to the table. It's so sad.

From what I understand, he accidently overdosed on sleeping pills due to the stress and paranoia of his role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie. What a horrible way to go.

He will be missed. He was so badass and unlike most celebrities.

      Too soon, Heath. Too soon.

      Brr!

So, yeah, it's been REALLY freakin' cold recently. It's been around 10 degrees during the day, with windchills down in the -10/-15 range and at night the temperature falls below -5 and the windchill is even worse.

It was always cold back home during the winer (this IS Iowa, afterall) but up here it's so much worse. And for a couple of days, the heaters in my dorm building weren't working. smiley4.gif Thankfully, they are now.

I haven't been able to play very many video games recently, because I've had A LOT of papers due and this weekend I have to work on an oral presentation for my multicultural literature class. I don't really understand the assignment (or the story I was assigned to) and I'm first to present. But I guess I can bullshit my way through 15 minutes by making a PowerPoint and doing a general analysis.

The only game I've really played so far since I came to school would be NFS: MW. It's relaxing to race and it doesn't take very long to get some milestones and races completed between finishing homework and going to dinner.

Not much else is going on in my life right now. I'm probably going to apply for a couple of jobs on campus in the next week, or so, because I'll really need the money come next fall.

      Um, I guess that's it.

      Back!

Well, I'm back at college and all settled in.

Thankfully, my roommate wasn't here while I moved back in (and still isn't) so I put my stuff everywhere before storing it where it belongs.

My books cost $600 this time around, thanks to three English courses (one of which had ten books!) and two humanities classes. Surprisingly, my parents bought them for me.

During my last day 'home,' I went out shopping. I bought a web cam, digital camera, wrist pad thingy for my mouse, two 360 games (Shivering Isles and Need For Speed: Most Wanted) and some assorted clothes, namely jeans. I went out for the digital camera and came back with goodies from five different stores. Oh well, now I have all the tech-stuff I want and plenty of new games (four total, including Christmas) to waste my study time with.

I've decided NOT to catch up on my watch list and will just pick it up from here. I don't have time, honestly. I have to catch up on my web comics, vids and install/charge all my new crap.

      That's it.

What was the film you voiced in before? If you've got a link to it I'm curious to see what it was like.

The RvB sims took about a week of late nights, I think. Maybe a little longer: making the shirts took the longest, then making the sim models, although I think I stayed up about five hours one night made the bases. and since I made all the characters in separate families according to their last names that took about an hour longer than it would have otherwise.

I'm Thinking of doing some music videos with them, maybe re-make my "A Girl Named Tex" video, as I've hacked the game to shoot in wide-screen now and at a higher resolution.

I made a full cast of RvB sims once before (to make this video) as part of a side-project at university, but lost all the game files when my old computer didn't like the "seasons" expansion pack and I'd forgotten to back up before installing so when I un-installed I lost the sims and the RvB shirts that my friend Solana had made, but since Solana's been out of contact for over a year now I decided to just go ahead and make my own shirts to replace them and re-make the sims as best I could.

Hey, can I call on you if I need a female voice for something?
