      Callahan's Chronicles

in Forums > Callahan's Chronicles | Follow this topic

I haven't seen anything on these books, or stories. They're older, came out in the seventies and feature a Bar - Callahan's Place. If you have read them, you are smiling and nodding right now. I stumbled onto this set of stories at a second hand book store while I was in middle school. I liked it enough, but it was a little over my head but there were plenty of jokes that I could get at the time. I was in middle school.
As I got a little older, I liked them more and more especially as I grew depressed about my college career. Not that they're self help books or anything - far from it. They're simply hysterical stories. If you like sci-fi of varying degrees, then these are classics that don't seem to have the recognition that they deserve.

      Summertime

You know, I need to update my journal more often.

Working for my mom's office this summer. It's kind of nice. We are now seeing %40 more patients a day now that I am in charge of the schedule, but mom is pissed since, you know, she has to see those patients.

Well, I have to get my paycheck right? More people we see, more money we get.

Working in a job where you actually have to talk to people is a new experience, but I have discovered that having a manager is a wonderful thing. I never before knew the relief that a person could feel when someone angrily shouts "I want to talk to your manager!!!!" All the while I am thinking great, SHE can tell you to fuck off.

It isnt nearly as cold as I thought it would be, but Russian is confusing as hell.

      Typing one-handed

Looks like I now get to brush up on my left handed mouse skills and get used to typing one handed, at lest for the next week. The docs found inflamation on the bone in my shoulder, and scraped it off, then removed the tip of the shoulder bone and the bursa (little fluid sac in the rotator cuff) so they wouldnt grate together anymore.

All in all, it isnt fun, but if it gets me the use of my right arm back, I'm all for it.

I have surgery on my shouder on tuesday, and I am not particullarly looking forward to it, since I will probably be immoblile for a few days. So it looks like instead of working I will be playing with the puppy and catching up on my videogaming.

Oh, and I intend to get more Apollo pictures posted as soon as I can make my digital camera work.

Yeah, I am in Ireland right now, and it is pretty fun.

Sadly, I seem to be stuck in DUblin, which strangely enough seems to contain more Germans than Irish.

Headed to Cork and then to Donegal later, so wish me luck in my search for the Irish on Ireland (I am sure that some can be found, just not in Dublin). Pictures are sure to be had . . . . some day. And for those of you who care, dear cute little Apollo is now 35 pounds.

You should check them out, they're called the Halfblood Chronicles. They are old enough that most Libraries have them, which is nice since they're hard to find in print sometimes.

The Dresden Files get longer as the series progresses, but they are quick reads. The Obsidian Trilogy is great, have you also read Lackey's Elvenbane books?

The AK wasn't as powerful (the kick back I mean) as I thought it'd be... I think my wireless controller vibrates more when I shoot the Covenant.. hahaha.

What about The Eyeless that acts as the hand of the Dark One? I'd say that Drizzt would have a hard time taking that one on.

Yeah, that seems to be what most people say when they've spent anytime in France outside of Paris.

really? Thats cool. I went there this summer, however I spent most my time in southern France, not in Paris. I actually like Paris the least of al the places I went in France, though the monuments were pretty sweet.
