      Patellar Tendonitis

So, I love basketball. I don't jog, I don't do pilates, I don't do yoga. Sports - That's how I get my excercise in. I mean, if you have to run, run for a purpose. And of all the sports I play, basketball is my favorite. I sucked at it when I was young, no one taught me the rules - I learned by watching and by playing and sucking it up a lot. I got better, I got taller, I got bigger. I play in my church's men's basketball league now. I am the biggest and tallest guy in the league and am a key player for my team. Last year (Feb 12'), in the first quarter of our first game, I suffered a crippling knee injury. A guy drove the key and we had a knee to knee collision that ended up with him being helped off the floor. I knew I was hurt, but I played the rest of the game. The next day I couldn't put any weight on my knee without it buckling and some intense pain. I missed one game and then was back at it, skipping and hobbling around the court the rest of the season. Over the summer and fall my knee got better, but not enough. I can't cut hard and stopping and running the other direction just doesn't happen. So, I finally went and saw a doctor. 2 weeks ago. Yes, it took a year to get help. X-Rays and MRI's show that I tore my Patellar Tendon on the back side below my knee cap. Rare injury. On top of that, due to my not getting help, I have a bad case of tendonitis that has moved in too. He recommended Physical Therapy before surgery, since they can't do this surgery lathroscopically. They have to cut you open to fix this kind of an injury. Tuesday I went and saw my therapist. The first thing he did was tell me no more basketball for now. I have never been so crushed. This is what I do, this is who I am. I faithfully score 1/3 to 1/2 of our points each game. I dominate the key on offense and defense. When I'm in I have 2-3 defenders on me which opens up other team mates for easy buckets. I went to our game last night to support my team. Last week we lost 32-35. I got in foul trouble early and sat out the 3rd quarter, which is when we went from being 2 points behind to 17 points behind. In the 4th quarter I led a comback and we were within 3, but lost. Last night, while I warmed the bench and did a lot of yelling, we lost 52-30. We got owned in the key. I haven't told my team, but I may miss this whole season depending on how/if I heal. I dreamed of basketball last night. I just want back in and I want to play. I'm just sounding off and bitching. Just needed to get it off my chest.

      Shower Head

That could be taken a few ways. Here's a picture of the shower head from my hotel room in San Fran. Since I'm 6'7'' I'm used to things like this. From some reason we can make a drinking fountain super short for wheelchair access, but we can't make a shower head tall enough for everyone to use it comfortably. The worst part is that due to the environmental friendly movement, this was a low flow shower head. The water dribbled out of of this thing like an 85 year old guy with a prostate the size of a watermelon taking a piss. The stream litteraly hit just above my knees at full stream. I had to shower kneeling. God bless America.

      I Be Back

Back from Cali. As always, it was too short of a trip. Always seems like they should be another 2-3 days longer. Oh well, good times all the same. Back to the grind.

      Viva San Fran!

Yep, tomorrow my wife and I are going to San Fransisco with her parents. Sadly, the trip will be interrupted by her cousin's wedding. Other than that it should be a glorious time! Sourdough and fresh seafood! The worst part of it all - I had to drop my dog off at my sister in laws this morning. Oh, to clarify, this is the sister in law that I get along very well with, not that bitch other one. My dog suffers from severe seperation anxiety when he isn't around my wife and I. I've seen dogs do that sad puppy face before, but this one breaks even my heart. We will be gone until Monday and I hope he eats something between now and then. He usually doesn't. Saturday my mom is going to take him to the dog park by the river. Hopefully that gets him perked up a bit.

      My Sister In Law

I can't stand her. That's the Disney version of it. Quite frankly I can't fucking stand her. She runs my brothers life. She goes so far as to tell him what soap, shampoo, deoderant and hair gel to use and she determines when and how short to have his hair cut. She controls every aspect of his life. What's more, she is an internet/texting bully. She tears everyone, including my brother, down on her facebook page and has been bold enough to attack my sister and other sister in law via text message. As the oldest and long time protector of my sibblings I have a hard time with this. Apparently, my other sibblings and their spouses agree with my outlook on the situation. After one of her very brutal online facebook attacks against my brother and 'his family' I decided to bring the fight to her and called her out on her facebook post. After several comments that were very much not in her favor she unfriended me. Damn. All but ruined my life. Before she did I took screen shots of our conversation so that I could forward them to my friends so that we could all have a good laugh. My parents were very hurt by all of this and asked me to take down everything I had said on my facebook page (which was not even close to being derogatory, just blunt and unsugar coated), which I did. Yet no one addresses the horrible things she had and has since then posted. I knew going into this that I would be kicking a hornets nest and that my brother, who I am very close to, would not be allowed to associate with me anymore. But as Lincoln said," To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men." I was not about to allow this to go on unchecked. Why post this here you ask? Well, two reasons. 1. The only people in my family that know about this awesome social hub is my other brother and a few friends. So no need to moderate my thoughts. God bless you roosterteeth for that. 2. A sounding board. A way to get my thoughts out and perhaps to hear others ideas. The end game in this situation is simple - Divorce. She can take her daughter (not my brothers) and get the hell out of my family. If I had the ability to pursue this course in my own way it would probably be done already. But, since others have 'feelings', I'm not about to trample them into the dust to get at her. Slow and subtle will be the path. One day my brother will be free and happy again. I believe that with all my heart. When is the only variable.

      Oops

So there I was, driving back to work after lunch. Glancing around, something caught my eye. A car to be precise, but not where it should be. Where was it you ask? A sharp 10 foot drop into a canal not mere feet from me. Further investigation determined the vehicle was not running and without occupants. Me thinks there's a teenager out there that's in DEEP trouble with his parents. I like to call this picture 'Oops.' Enjoy.

      Screw Hyde Park, UT!

So there I was, -7 degrees with the wind chill, standing outside of the Hyde Park City Office building with my dog wrapped up in my coat. Why you ask? Well, in honor of my grandparents, who have been long time citizens of the outstanding kind (and my late grandpa's great great grandfather was one of the founders of Hyde Park), the city decides to plant a pine tree in their honor out front of said building and decorate it every year, starting this year. Warms the heart, doesn't it? Well, mine too. At first. You see, my parents, wife, dog and I decide to go over right after work to put some finishing touches and decorations on the tree before the lighting event. Instead of leaving my dog at home I brought him with me. There's a large baseball diamond across the street from where we were and I thought it would be fun to let him chase his laser light around in the snow covered field. And he had a blast, until the light stopped working.

So we stroll back over to the building and as there are no signs posted, I take him inside with me where it is warm. He, my wife and I stand in a corner away from the other 20 or so people that are there, minding our own business. My dog (Bear) has his feet on my shoes and is lying down and relaxing - Bother absolutely no one. And then my dad walks up to me and says ''Uh, they would like you to take Bear outside.'' Who's 'They'? Well, he explains that one of the city councilmen asked my uncle to ask my dad to ask me to take the dog outside because pets aren't allowed inside. It's no wonder that our country is in the shape it's in. The politician asks someone to have someone else have another person do something. The guy should have come to me directly and gambled on my mood. Which was VERY sour, by the way. Normally I wouldn't give a damn and we'd be outside playing anyway, but -7 degrees WITH the windchill folks.

So outside the two of us went and stood alone by the tree for half an hour while people came and rushed inside to get out of the frigid cold. I have never known my dog to get cold, but shortly he started to shake. He sat and stared inside the windows looking for my wife (his mama) to see if she was OK. He has terrible seperation anxiety. So I took of my over coat and then took off my hoodie that I had on and wrapped him in it and stood with him between my legs to keep him warm. OK - So granted that it was a public event and even though it's not posted dogs aren't allowed inside. But when it's -7 degrees outside?! Where's the compassion, the understanding?! After the tree lighting I hugged grandma and we were gone. So, as the title of this entry suggests - Screw Damned Hyde Park, UT. More directly - The politician who was the whiny ass bitch can take a sugar frosted lick off the tip of one of my body parts. He should have had the juevos to go toe to toe with me like a man.

I heard on CNN radio news economists believe that with falling gas prices Americans will 'open up their wallets' and start spending more money. Did you hear that folks?! Gas prices dropped $0.06/gallon and it's now ONLY $3.69/gallon! Go get a big screen tv and new Taurus! Ah hell, make it a Lexus! Yay! The economic chrisis is just about over!
